Our charentais melon

The charentais melon has a thin greenish skin, with stripes, which yellows as it ripens. The inside consists of a very aromatic, deep orange flesh with a very sweet taste and a creamy texture.

Production areas

The cultivation of this melon in Spain is mainly located in the area of Murcia and Alicante and extends to other provinces in the south of the country. Most of the production is destined for France, one of the main producers and consumers of this fruit.

Its best season

In the Mediterranean climate zone, it is sown between March and May, when the soil temperature reaches at least 18 ºC and the frost season is over. It needs between three and four months to grow, bearing its best fruits between June and September.

The cultivation of charentais melons

It is a crop that does best in areas with plenty of sunlight and well-drained soils. It does not need a lot of water, but the water mustn’t touch the leaves as this could cause the plant to rot.

Production

We have 12 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of this fruit in the region of Murcia, where we strive every day to meet the requirements of this crop in order to obtain the best quality melons.
